The course is devoted to the art of constructing the plot of a work of fiction. Drawing on classic and simply famous essays, participants will learn how to grow stories from the most variegated material in life, see the connection between the type of hero and the development of events, put the hero on the back foot, and rhyme plot lines.
At the end of the course, each participant will write a short story with a clear plot.
In your group you will find like-minded people, be able to communicate with other project participants and the master reviewer – a professional writer and your personal consultant.

1 WEEK
SCENE
Is it possible to do without a plot? Are you the one who wants to compose the story narrative? Where do you look for story material? The role of other people’s books, favorite music, and newspaper articles in finding a story.
WEEK 2.
THE GENERAL HERO.
How the choice of protagonist determines the plot. What to do if you can’t write? Where else to look for ideas? Text structure. What should be communicated at the beginning?
WEEK 3.
TEXT STRUCTURE
How not to bore the reader in the middle. Complications, obstacles, defeats, revelations. Conflict and its types in the story. The perfect ending. The problem of an open ending. Variants of finales. Main and secondary storylines: how to combine them into a whole?
WEEK 4.
SCENE COMPOSITION
The internal composition of the scene. The main elements of the scene. Assignments of conflict. Five techniques to help create a scene.
WEEK 5.
TYPES OF SCENES.
From a quest to a nurturing novel. Structure and purpose of each type. Plot and genre. How does genre form affect plot development? More on characters. The means of creating a three-dimensional, vivid and sympathetic hero. Secondary characters. The meaning of the main character’s journey.
