<butt-ugly-fish>Urban Legend Zeitgeist: Payphone Panic

Synopsis

Gang iniatiates are dousing pay phones with a fatal mixture of LSD and strychnine.

See the warning from "Tina Strongman" here.

Is it true? No.
Why?
  • No media or police reports of this "gang initiation" exist.
  • LSD and strychnine do not chemically interact to form a new fatal substance.
  • While both LSD and strychnine can be fatal if taken in excess and can be absorbed through skin, the lethal dose for either could not be absorbed by briefly touching a telephone keypad.
Comments

Coming on the heels of two recently popular urban legends, the "lights out" gang initiation rumors and the "needles in payphones" rumors, this appears to be a deliberate attempt to crossbreed popular urban legends to produce a new breed.
