|
Is it true?
|
No.
|
| Why? |
Yes, Jakes recently meet with President Bush, but Bush passed on no specific warning to Jakes of impending attacks.
Bishop Thomas D. Jakes says:
I returned from my meeting with the President with a strong sense of
confidence in his ability to handle the situation at hand. As a spiritual leader, I
certainly believe in peace; yet, feel the need to prepare my congregation with
practical tools and guidelines in the event of future terrorist activities. This
mindset; however, was not prompted as a result of any secret the President shared with me during our
meeting, but simply my responsibility as a 'watchman on the wall' in relation to the people and the
congregation I serve.

In the aftermath of the events of September 11, 2001, there has been a flood of rumors of impendings attacks: stolen trucks will be used in terrorist attacks, malls will be attacked on Halloween, the Klingerman Foundation is sending out packages contaminated with a deadly virus and a plethora of others.
Still, the Urban Legend Zeitgeist wonders what about 9/11 has made some many people believe that widely forwarded email is a reliable source of information.
