Comments

The Urban Legend Zeitgeist notes that to some extent, diplomatic events have voided some of Ansary's predictions, at least for the time being.

'To get any troops to Afghanistan, we'd have to go through Pakistan' - Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have both offered to support military action in Afghanistan, though it is not clear what they mean by 'support' and whether it would be useful. In addition, Pakistan has cooperated with United States efforts to persuade the Taliban regime to turn over Osama bin Laden.
