A new urban legend (new to me, at least) was mentioned in the op-ed pages of _The Boston Globe_ this morning:

excerpt from:
"Bobbit babbling", Ellen Goodman, Boston Globe, Thursday, Jan.13 1994, p.15

When a 5-foot-2-inch, 95-pound manicurist cuts the penis off a 200-pound former Marine, it's news indeed. But when the urban legend arises simultaneously in a dozen cities about the man who wakes up with a red ribbon tied neatly around his penis and a note saying how easy it would be, well, that's battleground fantasy."

This is the first I've heard of this UL, and I don't think it's been mentioned here on AFU. Has anyone out ther encountered this story? And if so, what is the compete version of it?
