Love the identification of the R(only)eaders' D(only)igest as a CIA front! They'll be furious that word got out!

Here's a post from 1992:

Sorry to inject some folklore into this newsgroup. Scant hours after someone asked for birth legends, I find one in my local paper! What *is* this thing they call "karma"?

"Wanda Tacey of the nursing staff tells of a woman who went into labor
so fast that she gave birth on the elevator [No, I don't know if they
named the kid "Otis" -- Ed.] When it was all over, one of the nurses
tried to comfort the embarrassed mother by telling her it was nothing
compared to the woman who gave birth last year on the front lawn.
The mother cried out "That was me!"..."

Los Altos Town Crier, page 28, May 13 1992.

Under the circumstances, I did the only thing I could... I rewrote the story in the first person, and sent it to Ann Landers.
