Here's a quick one to add to your collection, from America's 53rd state (South Africa - we are required by law to watch America's Funniest Home Atrocities and Married With Children, although we have not yet had to watch Brady Bunch reruns): South Africans have always taken it for granted that driving barefoot or even wearing sandals is illegal. Three months ago a local suburban freesheet reported, probably for the firt time in this country, that it had been informed on inquiry to the traffic department that there was no law against it, as long as the driver was able to control the vehicle.
