Lutefisk is one of those things that, if you don't know what it is, you're probably better off not knowing. If you still want to know after i told you this, the answer is in the following paragraph. Ready?
Lutefisk is dried fish, soaked for several days in a lye and water mixture and then in plain water. It takes on a very gelatinous texture. It is served with a number of side dishes - how many and exactly what kind varies from region to region and even family to family - and large amounts of beer and akavit. For some Norwegian families, it is THE traditional Christmas dish.
And, yes, some people claim to think it's delicious. Ask YuNoHoo.

PS There is good Norwegian food, too. Lukket valn|tt, for example.
