Killer Story


More a complicated cautionary tale of things not always being what they seem than a conventional urban legend this one was quite popular for a while.

Debunked: The bizarre suicide involving a guy (variations include Ronald Opus and Paul Aulphis), a tall building, an old couple, and a shotgun (or rifle) is totally bogus but pretty damn good.

Don Harper Mills, past president of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences made it up for an awards ceremony in 1987. In 1994 someone posted it on the Internet (as being told at the 1994 meeting of the AAFS) where it spread like wildfire.
