Chain mail

This email chain letter slid onto the Usenet scene in early 1997 and is one of the earlier "email tracking" chain letters to appear on Usenet, later version appealed to baser motives.

Debunked: The American Cancer Society sponsors a chain letter for "Jessica Mydek."

According to this letter little Jessica Mydek (interesting name) is a 7 year old suffering from multiple brain tumors with just six months to live. She wants to start a chain mail to inform people of her condition and to convince them to live life to the fuillest. In addition the American Cancer Society and unnamed corporate sponsers have agreed to donate 3 cents for every new person this letter is forwarded to.

The American Cancer Society has placed a page on its website debunking this letter (see URL below).

Besides who would the ACS donate the money to and how often to corporations get involved in anonymous do-goodery?
