Weird, yes. An Urban Legend, probably not.

Documented: Fin-de-siecle Frenchman, Le Petomane, got rich farting as music hall act.

He packed the house at the Moulin Rouge for three years before opening his own nightclub. In addition to playing melodies and imitating politicians he could also blow out candles from meters away.
