Of course the way we measure time in no way affects its passage, nor does it affect creatures that can't tell time. Ben Franklin thought it up in Paris semi-jokingly, and several people pushed it throughout history as a way to use less energy in daily life by making more efficient use of daylight hours, reducing dependence on artificial light.
