What if aliens did leave this thing, and it turned out to be one of their toothpicks?

Debunked: There is a pillar in India made of metal found nowhere else in the world.

von Daniken, von Daniken, von Daniken, what would skeptics do without von Daniken fans around? This one comes straight out of The Chariots of the Gods, where our hero vD talks about the Ashoka Pillar, a 4000 year old column of iron that shows no rust. It must be an alien alloy!

Or maybe it must be iron. And maybe it's 1500 years old. And maybe the iron is just really pure, and thus resists oxidation more easily, not having a catalyst (like lots of sulfur in the iron) to get things going.

We can say for sure that von Daniken retracted this bit of information in an interview for Playboy. You can find all of this information and more here.
