Impossible: Squeezing out the air from a partially consumed plastic soda bottle will keep soda from going flat.

This will make the soda go flat faster. By squeezing in the sides of a 2L plastic bottle, you will create a low pressure environment inside the bottle as the bottle tries to resume its more structurally stable shape. The lower pressure will help the dissolved CO2 to escape the solution.

CO2 can be helped to remain dissolved by higher pressure or by lower temperature. You can find some elaborations on this here.
