Debunked: The red leaves of Poinsettias (aka the Xmas Plant) are deadly poisonous.

Documented: Poinsettia sap and leaves are irritants and may harm small children.

Poinsettias, although widely believed to be terribly toxic, just aren't that dangerous. (Am J Emerg Med 1996 Nov;14(7):671-4. Poinsettia exposures have good outcomes...just as we thought. Krenzelok EP, Jacobsen TD, Aronis JM.) However, there are a handful of incidents in which they've induced local irritation (e.g. Arch Dermatol. 1974 Jun;109(6):909-10.
