Stories about the hack author Kurt Vonnegut

AFU members are really not interested in Kurt Vonnegut, but stories about him continue to proliferate. If you are interested in his work, a more appropriate forum would be news:alt.books.kurt-vonnegut.

Debunked: Kurt Vonnegut made a commencement speech at MIT in 1997 which later became a pop song "Wear Sunscreen".

The unruly-haired author was widely credited with making this speech, but the original author was really Mary Schmich, of the Chicago Tribune, in a column that appeared on June 1, 1997. Ms. Schmich also has written subsequent columns discussing the incident. For more information, go to the following reference : Chicago Tribune: Mary Schmich on "Sun Screen"
