It is widely documented, among toxicologists, veterinarians, keepers of pet rats, and exterminators among other groups, that rats are literally unable to vomit. Many rat poisons exploit this incapacity. It may be that the phenomenal toxin resistance of rats has minimized the evolutionary pressure to regurgitate toxins---it's easier to just let the industrial-strength rat liver take care of them. |
