This story as stated is very unlikely, as anyone who's pulled a horse trailer can attest. A full trailer creates a lot of kinesthetic feedback (i.e., you can feel the weight shifting), and the friction required by this story would be immediately obvious, to say nothing of the struggles of the animal. On the other hand, horse trailers are often old, rickety vehicles, and they do sometimes break down in spectacular ways while moving, potentially with horrific effects to the animals (mostly broken legs). The disputable part is not the initial collapse of the trailer, but the gory image of the legs being ground down as the driver keeps roaring along the freeway. It's more plausible with cows in a large commercial trailer, where the travails of a single animal would be less obvious to the driver of the truck. |
