Rains of fish (or frogs, or other animals) have been reported for centuries. They are classical "fortean" phenomena (try newsgroup alt.misc.forteana).
A good article on the subject is that by E.W.Gudger entitled "Rains of Fishes" which appeared in *Natural History* Vol 21:607 (1921). The article has a good bibliography of sources.
A more general article by Waldo L. McAtee is "Showers of Organic matter" which was published in *Monthly Weather Review* Vol 45:217 (1917), which includes a section on rains of animals.
Look also at the "Complete Works of Charles Fort" for further cases and discussion.
