title: Blowing up Grizzlies is just Part of teh Job

by: Guy Gugliotta

Datelined Washington: It's May in Yellowstone (and teh forest rangers are getting everything ready. But htrere's a problem...)

Deep in the forest, ... there's a thawing dead grizzly bear .. 500 pounds and thawing nicely in the spring sun, as anyone within 100 yards can attest.

The article goes on to describe an official Forest Service newsletter, "Tech Tips", which "has a solution:"

"Most large animal carcasse can be adequately disbursed [sic] with 20 pounds [of] explosives. However, 40-55 pounds are recommended to ensure total obliteration."

The article goes on to quote Forest Service types who explain that while a singel carcass might rot around the neighborhood for an annoying amount of time, "a partially obliterated carcass disapperars in about 3 days and an atomized one in 24 hours."

One danger: flying horsehoes...
