It would appear that Janice R. Walker, professor of English at the University of South Florida and member of the Modern Language Association, reads AFU. In her style sheet on citations of Internet documents (found by me at http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/TeachingLib/Guides /Internet/MLAStyleSheet.html, also available at http://www.cas.usf.edu/english /walker/mla.html), I found this paragraph:

E-mail, Listserv, and Newslist Citations

Give the author's name (if known), the subject line from the posting in quotation marks, and the address of the listserv or newslist, along with the date. For personal e-mail listings, the address may be omitted.

Newsgroup:
York, Ian. "Re: Wonder Bread Psychosis." alt.folklore.urban (18 Oct 1995).

Now, the date this style sheet was created is given as October 26, 1995. So what I'm wondering is, is Prof. Walker a regular lurker, or was she just randomly looking for an example and set upon Ian for her target?

Anyway, you're famous now, Ian. You oughta ask for royalties.
