Subject: Reading AFU Makes Your Baby Late?
Date: Wed, 18 Jan 95 18:13:27 GMT

So who decides what "late" really is, I mean, why is the baby late when it doesn't arrive exactly 270 days after the supposed conception, hmm? Why should my baby necessarily show up right on the 270th day? Why not, say, 274 days?

Anyhow, Erin Marie Dowd was born on the 11th of January around 7:30pm, weighing in at 8 lbs. 13 oz. (about 4 kilos) and measuring 20 inches (50 cm) after 13 hours of labor and 2.5 hours of pushing (ow). As her arbitrary due date was the 7th, she was technically late, so there we have Yet Another Data Point (YADP) for the grate baby-latification-byreading -afu debate. Oh, baby is fine, parents are tired. And the baby absolutely will not play the piano, horn, or bassoon yet no matter what I try. I might break down and give recorder or flute a shot next.

I just stopped by work real quick-like, I'm taking time off until the 30th so I likely won't answer any mail for a bit (unless I go stir-crazy and buy a modem).
